Thailand Vacation

At Audri's request, I'm posting a few photos from our fabulous Thailand vacation. Because I'm just not very good at this, I don't have the pictures in the order I wanted them in; therefore, I've numbered them since in some cases that helps the narrative make more sense.

Bangkok, Thailand

7 - I love these guys (statues & kids)! They are at the Grand Palace in Bangkok. Every one has a different face and coloring.

8 - This gives a flavor of what all of the buildings are like on the Wat grounds. They are ornate from top to bottom. Even the ceilings are covered with beautiful, richly colored and patterned fabrics.

5 - This is on the stairs at Wat Arun with our dear friends the Wakes. They live in Hyderabad, India and we met for 2 weeks together in Thailand. We are hoping they will come home to Vacaville soon.

6 -Closer view of Wat Arun. They used alot of china in the exterior of the Wat

1 - These are houses along the Chao Phraya River. These are located sometimes next to a highrise hotel, or a Wat (temple). The water looks very murky with lots of water plants and huge carp! That doesn't stop kids from swimming in it. This river is a main thoroughfare through Bangkok with every kind of watercraft traveling on it.

2 - This is from the top of Wat Arun, overlooking the Chao Phraya River. The Wats are ornate and beautiful. This is the oldest Wat in Bangkok. There are some closer photos showing the mosaic outer structure of this temple.

3 - This is one (of many) trips along the river. This type of boat was fast and allowed us to travel where we wanted as opposed to using the ferry boats we frequently traveled on. (Packed like sardines at times.)

4 - Typical meal. Fish was almost always served whole. This fish was delicate flavored and absolutely delicious!!!

Wow. An actual blog. I never thought I'd want a blog, but after having the opportunity to check in on relatives not near, I'm sold. Now the tricky work of making it work. Wish me luck!
